Monster Media Terms of Services

Card & Catalog Terms of Service

Effective 6 October 2026. These are interim terms. Fuller ones will replace them before Card & Catalog is offered to public servers, and this page will show the new date when it does.

Card & Catalog (“the bot”, “we”) is a Discord app for book clubs, run by Monster Media, LLC. By adding the bot to a server, or by using its commands in a server that has it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the bot.

1. Using the bot

  • You must be allowed to use Discord under Discord’s own Terms of Service, which also apply whenever you use the bot.
  • The bot is free. It is a beta, offered by invitation, and may change, pause or stop at any time.
  • Server admins decide whether the bot is in their server and which channel the daily game runs in.

2. House rules

When you use the bot, do not:

  • submit content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, or that sexualizes minors;
  • submit explicit content outside a channel the server has marked age-restricted;
  • submit personal information about yourself or anyone else;
  • submit links that are deceptive, malicious, or not what they claim to be;
  • try to manipulate scores or votes, automate submissions, or flood the catalog with suggestions;
  • try to break, probe, or overload the bot.

Server admins can remove entries. We can remove content, withhold points, or stop serving a user or a server that breaks these rules.

3. What you submit

You keep whatever rights you have in what you submit. You give us permission to store it, display it in the server where you submitted it, and (for catalog suggestions and corrections) to use it to improve the book catalog. Quote only what you have the right to share; a short quotation from a book, credited to the book, is the intended use.

Suggestions are reviewed by a person and may be accepted, changed or declined. Points have no cash value.

4. The catalog

Book information comes from our catalog and is offered as is. It can be incomplete or out of date. Store links lead to sites we do not control. The bot offers library search links and does not know what your library holds.

5. Privacy

6. No warranty

The bot is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

7. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Monster Media, LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the bot, or for content submitted by other users.

8. Ending use

You can stop using the bot at any time, and a server admin can remove it. We can suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms.

9. Changes

If these terms change, we will change the date at the top. By continuing to use the bot after a change, you accept the new terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Illinois, USA.

11. Contact

Card & Catalog is not affiliated with or endorsed by Discord.
